Gorilla Glass Wants To Make All Tablet Screens Unbreakable
Posted on 02. Aug, 2010 by TabletMan in Tablets
The Gorilla Glass company makes unbreakable glass for products ranging from basketball hoop, cellphones and flat-screen televisions. Now the company wants in on tablets. They already have touchscreen devices like the Droid X and Dell Streak tablet(pictured above) using their screens with lots of success.
The future for mobile computing lies in tablets but people don’t want to be plunking down $400 plus for a device if the screen is weak. Right now most tablets are using glass that is, well not even close to the strength level that Gorilla Glass offers. Gorilla Glass that is used on the Dell Streak tablet is “stab-proof” there are tons of videos out on YouTube like this one, showing the strength of the Dell Streak’s Gorilla Glass display. Hopefully more companies start to use Gorilla Glass products or develop something to that level of strength.[Via]

Against most normal abuse the screen won’t get damaged but yes it’s still glass when you drop it from a great distance it will still crack.

You must have gotten a defective model, there are multiple videos out there that show the Dell Streak getting stabbed with pens and no cracks.
