toshiba folio 100 android tabletToday at IFA Toshiba has unveiled their Folio 100 10.1-inch Android 2.2 tablet. The photos for the tablet leaked a few days ago and that kind of killed the Folio 100′s buzz a little but the nail in the coffin for the moment seems to be Android 2.2. The tablet as you will be able to see in the video below just looks very incomplete, even the home screen doesn’t fit onto the giant 10.1-inch screen. Toshiba would have done themselves a huge favor by waiting to announce the Folio 100 after Android 3.0 (the first tablet minded Android OS) became available.

The Toshiba Folio 100 will feature a 10.1-inch LCD with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core chip, a 1.3MP front facing VGA camera for making video calls(the Folio 100 will use Fring for calls), 16GB of SSD storage. The tablet will feature 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G connectivity, an HDMI output, 2 built in speakers and a mic, a USB port and SD card reader. The battery inside the Folio 100 tablet is set to last up to 7 hours.

Some things Toshiba will offer preloaded include Opera Mobile web browser,Toshiba Media Player, FBReader, Fring (for video calls), Documents To Go, and Evernote. The tablet will have a Toshiba App store with applications designed specifically for the Folio 100.

The tablet is set for release late this year in Europe first, Toshiba has hinted at the price for the tablet to be €399. Check out the Toshiba Folio 100 in action in the video below.
