The Taiwan based Acer is planning a press event for tomorrow –November 23, 2010– to launch a 7-inch Android 2.2 tablet and a 10-inch Windows 7 tablet, according to sources. The sources inside Acer tell Digitimes that a press event could happen tomorrow in New York City.
The source said their is much debate inside Acer as to what they’re more should be. Some inside Acer wanted to wanted to wait until Android Gingerbread or Honeycomb were released before launching an Android tablet. Others also weren’t looking to favorably at launching a Windows 7 tablet at this time to compete with the Apple iPad after seeing the anti-climactic release of the HP Slate 500.
With all of that said we’ll just have to wait and see if Acer really does hold a press conference tomorrow in New York to launch some tablets. We hope they wait for Android Gingerbread or Honeycomb to be launched on the Android side. [Digitimes]
