Earlier this past week Google released the preview SDK for Android 3.0 developers and they also released details on new things ordinary users can expect to see in the new tablet OS, check out our rundown here. With the influx of new official information the only thing that was left out was an official release date. But that too could be coming soon, just the other day Google annouced to the press that they will be holding a press event on their campus to unveil and demo Android 3.0 Honeycomb (see the announcement below).
We along with many other expect that Google will also finally announced a set release date for the new OS. Remember the Motorola XOOM –the first mainstream tablet that will feature the Honeycomb– was said by CEO Sanjay Jha to be coming at the end of February or in early March (if things went bad). So this unveiling event which is scheduled by the way for February 2nd could be where Google announces that they will be done and ready to offer Android 3.0 to Motorola by the end of the month.
However the event is only a few day’s away so we’ll just play this one by ear and wait for Google to make their announcement –which better include a release date– on the 2nd. *as a note the logo at the head of the post is the new logo for Android 3.0* [Via]
