Samsung Galaxy Tab in handThis past week Samsung at their quarterly earnings call announced that they have shipped 2 million Galaxy Tabs so far –this does not mean they sold 2 million to customers but shipped to carriers and other resellers–. The Samsung Galaxy Tab was made available widely in November of 2010. At the moment you can buy in most instances the Galaxy Tab with the stipulation of a service contract with a major telecom.

With Samsung releasing info on how many Galaxy Tabs they have shipped in the few months they had it available, info has also been released by an independent research agency regarding customer returns. The researchers have found that the customer return rate for the Galaxy Tab is 15%, to compare the Apple iPad according to the same group has a return rate of 2%.

It’s no secret that the Galaxy Tab will be put on the back-burner for the rest of this year by most Android tablet consumers but Samsung isn’t going to exactly be pulling the Galaxy Tab from market. In fact Samsung is planning to launch a Wi-Fi only version of the original Galaxy Tab later this quarter. [Via]
