The MeeGo platform isn’t going anywhere for now, Intel is still going to strongly support it. Recently if you missed it some very big changes have taken place over at Nokia –the direct partner with Intel on MeeGo– and Nokia is now not too gung ho about a future with MeeGo OS –leave alone MeeGo for tablets– Stephen Elop Nokia’s CEO has stated they are going to only release one phone for MeeGo and see how customers react and they will move forward from there.
However Intel is a little more optimistic about MeeGo, designers of MeeGo still feel their platform offers the most flexibility. Intel has brought out an early iteration of MeeGo OS for tablets to this years Mobile World Congress and today they have released a new promo video which talks about the benefits of MeeGo as compared to Apple‘s iOS and other platforms. Remember that Intel wants to offer MeeGo to OEM’s directly for them to customize it for their own devices.
Check out the new promo video for the OS below and at the bottom check out a quick hands-on with the current UI for MeeGo OS as captured by Steve Chippy of CarryPad at Mobile World Congress 2011. Remember when watching the videos that Intel wants to offer MeeGo directly to OEM’s for them to customize it for their own devices before releasing.
