Samsung Galaxy Tab Verizon Wireless $299Verizon has done some adjusting to their online tablet offering, the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab and the 10.1-inch Motorola XOOM have been affected. For the Galaxy Tab it’s price has now been dropped to $299.00 with a 2 year contract agreement and for the new XOOM it has been made available now on the Verizon website for $599.99 also with a 2 year contract agreement. (both tablets offer 3G mobile broadband only)

This is the first time pricing for the Android 2.2 Froyo clad Galaxy Tab has been sliced at Verizon, but the Tab has been experiencing such cuts for months on other carriers. However with the new cut in contract pricing by Verizon they still don’t offer the lowest price, T-Mobile offers the Tab for $249.99 (w/ $50.00 mail-in-rebate) with a 2 year contract. In off-contract pricing Verizon does offer the same prices for the Tab at $499.99 as other major carriers.

The Android 3.0 Honeycomb Motorola XOOM bears an off-contract price of $799.99 at Verizon. The off-contract model which features 3G and Wi-Fi will no longer require a data plan to unlock Wi-Fi, previously VZW planned to force people into getting at least one month of data to unlock the Wi-Fi on the off-contract XOOM’s.

The XOOM is available for order in areas where Verizon offers coverage on this page and the 7-inch Galaxy Tab from is available here.

Can the Motorola Xoom do the Word, Excel PPT and read PDF files?
Does it comes with an external keyboard or mouse?
What is the price in Singapore and where to buy it?

    Thank you.

At this time I do not believe there are ways for doing Word, Excel or PPT with a XOOM but there are applications for reading PDF files. There is no bundled mouse or keyboard but there is bluetooth support on the XOOM so a wireless Bluetooth keyboard or mouse you buy separately would work with the tablet. As for Singapore release I’m not to certain on that, you might have to order one from an online retailer for now.
