Archos Unveils Low-Priced Android Tablets, $149 8-inch and $199 10.1-inch

Been yearning for a tablet but don’t really feel like dropping the $799.99 for an off-contract 10.1-inch XOOM or $499 for an off-contract 7-inch Galaxy Tab? Well Archos has just released a new brand of affordable tablets named Arnova, the new brand houses one 8-inch Android 2.1 tablet for $149 and one 10.1-inch Android 2.1 tablet for $199.
The 8-inch model has been titled Arnova 8 while the 10-inch model is going by Arnova 10. Looks wise the new models use some of the designs from existing and more expensive Archos tablets but the Arnova brand uses all plastic designs. You can pick-up either model in the US and Europe according to Charbax of Archosfans.com.
The tablets in their current available form are running on ARM9 600Mhz RK2818 processors and have resistive touchscreen. Charbax assures that Archos plans to launch updated Arnova 8 and 10 tablets in April with faster ARM Cortex-A8 1Ghz RK2918 processors, more finger-friendly capacitive touchscreens and more updated versions of Android (maybe even honeycomb).
You can check out the Arnova 8 and the Arnova 10 in two separate unboxing/first-look videos as done by Charbax.

Hello, I’ve been looking at the Motorola Xoom, iPads and other tablets. The Arnova appears to have as good as technology as the others. Waiting for my tax return to purchase my dream, the 10″ Archos Arnova. Thank you.
