Sony Android 3.0 Tablet Joins Long Line Of “Coming Soon” Android Tablets

The first Android 3.0 tablet from Sony will be coming…soon, how often have you been hearing that lately? Well the companies CEO Sir Howard Stringer has confirmed today that this company will be bringing to market an Android 3.0 tablet of their very own.
As to when we’ll be able to see the tablet Stringer stated to Bloomberg that it would come this Summer. However reports out of Japan state Sony officials are looking to launch this tablet in late 2011. So it’s best to just categorize the unnamed tablet from Sony as “coming soon” seeing as there is no firm release date.
These types of announcements if you’ve been following Android tablet news shouldn’t surprise you. The recently revealed Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 as well as the much needed Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab 7-inch tablet are all “coming soon” and those aren’t the only ones. LG and their G-Slate or Optimus Pad are coming soon, so are the Acer Iconia Tab A100 and A500 tablets, not to mention the attractive HTC Flyer is still just “coming soon” as well.
Don’t you wish Android tablet makers would announce and then immediately release their tablets next day or even the following week?
As for more info on the features of the unnamed Sony tablet, Android 3.0 Honeycomb is as far as hard info goes for the tablet. More is likely to be leaked however, if there is one thing to count on with Android tablets it’s lots of detail leaks before the eventual release/official unveiling.
