With Amazon keeping their mouths tied-up tight about any potential tablet plans the rumor mill is left to run wild with speculation and reports from anonymous sources. A big contributor to the Amazon tablet rumor mill is DigiTimes, a Taiwanese tech news agency, they have published numerous reports on forthcoming Amazon tablets. You can check out the latest rumors from the news agencies sources below:
Amazon’s tablet will use a touchscreen that supports two-finger multi-touch – DigiTimes reported this bit of information on Monday in a report on tablet makers trying to cut costs and adopting two-finger multi-touch displays. Most tablets including the iPad offer multi-touch support for all ten digits.
Amazon is launching two tablets a 7-inch and a 10-inch, component suppliers outed - DigiTimes posted on Wednesday a report that indicated Amazon would be releasing a 7-inch and a 10-inch tablet in the third quarter. To accompany those claims DigiTimes also announced who will supply components for each tablet, below is the suppliers tablet:
At this time The Wall Street Journal is the only credible news agency to report on what size tablet and how many tablets Amazon would release this year. The WSJ reported that Amazon was working to release one tablet that offered a 9-inch touchscreen. Reports about a 7 and 10-inch tablet precede the WSJ 9-inch tablet report, previously it was said that Amazon was working on two tablets code named Coyote (7-inch) and Hollywood (10-inch) the two were said to feature a dual-core (Coyote) and a dual-core (Hollywood) processing chip.
Everything posted above is speculation of course no matter how believable some if actually sounds. Amazon is shying away from media pressure to out their tablet plans, if they have any at all. I really don’t see the rumors dying down anytime soon.
