Saturday HP announced that some previous HP TouchPad buyers are eligible for a $50 App Catalog voucher. The only qualifications for the free $50 voucher is that you purchased your TouchPad between July 1st and August 4th from HP.com or other “participating resellers”.

The HP App Catalog is the HP application store that the TouchPad and future webOS devices will rely on for applications.

This new voucher is good for some TouchPad owners but it could be really good for HP if everyone uses their vouchers. Any upswing in store activity for the young HP App Catalog store will be good for HP.

At this time the App Catalog store isn’t the most bountiful application store but the qualifying TouchPad owners should be able to find something to spend the $50 on. A place that many could explore is the HP MovieStore, the MovieStore is a new service recently launched by HP in partnership with RoxioNow, customers can rent or download movies to their TouchPad or PC for a price in the new store.

This new voucher initiative is just one of the many efforts being put forth by HP to make their young TouchPad tablet a success.

Recently HP and some official resellers in the U.S. launched a $100 discount for the 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi TouchPad’s they sell through HP.com, with the discount the 16GB model is $399 and the 32GB model is $499, but the offer expires after today (8/7/2011). Before that $100 discount HP and some of their resellers were offering a $50 discount on each model, the $50 discount lasted from July 1st through July 31st.
