NTT DOCOMO unveils upcoming LTE Android tablets from Samsung and Fujitsu

Japan’s perennial cell provider NTT DOCOMO has unveiled two new Android Honeycomb tablets they will launch soon on their new LTE network in Japan. There is a tablet from Samsung named GALAXY Tab 10.1 LTE SC-01D, basically the Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE with NTT DOCOMO branding, and a tablet from Fujitsu that bears the model name ARROWS Tab LTE F-01D.
The Fujitsu tablet is the most interesting of the two since it’s not only the first Fujitsu Android tablet but it’s also the first Android tablet in the world that’s waterproof (IPX5/IPX7 waterproof design). The Fujitsu model will come out next month in Japan, but I hope the model finds its way into other markets like Europe and North America, to name a few places the tablet would be appreciated.
According to the official details from NTT DOCOMO about the Samsung and Fujitsu tablets they will be the first tablets that are compatible with the carriers new “extra-high-speed next-generation LTE service, Xi™ (read “Crossy”)”. The two will both launch in October with the Samsung coming to market sooner than the Fujitsu.
Here are the specifications for the two Xi (Crossy) network compatible tablets, note that they will be backwards compatible with NTT DOCOMO’s other connection types:
If you would like to see some nice hands-on photos I recommend you check out the Gigazine website where the two tablets have been handled and photographed by Japan-based journalists; the Samsung hands-on is here, the Fujitsu hands-on is available here.
