Samsung to be first with a Windows 8 tablet PC, report suggests

Samsung Electronics Ltd. has worked ‘closely’ with Microsoft on a new Windows 8 based slate tablet PC, says an anonymous source close to the project to The Korea Economic Daily. The source goes on to say that the new tablet PC will be shown at Microsoft’s BUILD conference which starts on September 13th and runs through the 16th.
The name of the tablet isn’t given away and Samsung representatives declined to comment to The Korea Economic Daily about the report, no doubt Samsung wants to keep their surprise hidden for now.
As the name is absent from the anonymous report, so are the specifications for the proposed Samsung Windows 8 tablet PC. With the absence of specifications I really don’t know what to expect. The device could have some of the features the Android GALAXY TAB tablets from Samsung have; features like a thin design, a high-quality IPS or AMOLED display, and an ARM based processing chip.
A possible feature for the reported Samsung tablet PC could be a quad-core ARM processing chip. Recently Patrick Hevesi, Microsoft’s Enterprise Technology Architect, stated that quad-core ARM powered Windows 8 tablet PC’s will be abound. Also Hevesi also waved an unnamed quad-core Windows 8 tablet PC at the event in Australia where he made his statements (see close-up pic below). Could the Samsung tablet PC be the same tablet Hevesi waved in the air?
