Acer, HTC, LG and Samsung Android Honeycomb tablets may be coming to Rogers Canada

Rogers Canada is looking into the possibility of releasing three of four different Android Honeycomb 3.0-3.1 tablets on their network in the Great White North. The four models up for discussion include the Acer Iconia Tab, HTC Puccini LTE, LG Optimus Tab (model already being sold at Rogers, but could be dropped) and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Rogers Canada is also looking at opting for Apple’s iPad 1 and iPad 2 tablets in the place of each of those Android Honeycomb tablets too. All of this info is confirmed in an internal Rogers Canada product roadmap scooped by Mobile Syrup, see it below.
The Rogers Canada conundrum is one that many carriers in the U.S. are going through, they all just don’t know which tablets to order for their customers. In the U.S. there is no one carrier that offers every tablet being sold with mobile broadband, most just have four tablets max. in their inventory for their customers to pick from. Carriers are afraid of placing orders for tablets that they’ll end-up sitting on for months if not years.
Rogers Canada should have a decision in place soon, though, you’ll just have to sit tight and see if they pick Apple or Android for their tablets. Also note that the roadmap pictured above is only a draft (see label in top right corner) so the plans to be changed completely at will by Rogers Canada.
