Adobe Air and Adobe Flash Player logosIn the tools section of the Android Market there were two new additions today, Adobe Flash Player 11 and Adobe Air 3. Both pieces of software are available for download immediately with a price tag of FREE, both programs require your Android device have Android 2.2 and above.

If you have an older Android tablet that’s still got Android 1.6 or 2.1 then you’ll just have to get a hold of a version of Android 2.2 or a version that is newer and upgrade your tablet if your devices manufacturer hasn’t sent you an update yet. Keep in mind too that if your older/lower-end tablet doesn’t have much storage space you’ll need to have an SD card on-hand for these updates (I hope your tablet has an SD card slot).

Adobe Flash Player 11 and Adobe Air 3 are going to help your tablet browse websites that make use of both of those technologies at faster speeds and with better overall performance. Some of have downloaded both have proclaimed that web-pages that use Flash are loading faster and websites like ESPN that use Adobe Air for streaming video and other things work now on their Android devices. Basically you should upgrade to both versions if you want the best experience possible on your device.

I am concerned whether this download will take too much for my computer?

    Hello Lynda,

If this is for your computer the links provided above aren’t appropriate. You should go to adobe.com to get the appropriate version of Adobe Flash Player.

“(I hope your tablet has an SD card slot).”
App 2 SD reports that it can’t be moved to an SD card, so I’ve twice had to remove it from my HTC Desire. 17.32MB is far too large an app for the main memory.
