eLocity A7+: $230 7″ Android tablet with a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2

This holiday season quite a few tablet makers will be offering sub-$300 models to lure in timid consumers that don’t want to spend too much money.

Stream TV Networks has revealed the eLocity A7+ as their low-cost tablet for the 2011 holiday shopping season. The new 7-inch eLocity A7+ tablet is sensibly priced at $229.99 and it offers up a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processing chip, a 7-inch WSVGA (1024×600) capacitive multi-touch LCD, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of built-in storage with a microSD slot for expansion, HDMI, USB 2.0, a 1.3MP webcam, Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.1, and finally Android 2.2 Froyo is pre-installed and that version of Android does include Adobe Flash Player support.
The Stream TV Networks company has been in the tablet business for about a year now and they entered the market with the 7-inch eLocity A7 tablet. The eLocity A7 was launched in the Fall of 2010 with a price tag of $369.99. The technical specifications included with the 2010 eLocity A7 tablet are the same as those offered in the $229.99 eLocity A7+ that’s being released today.
With its features the eLocity A7+ will provide users with an adequate Android tablet experience, but you don’t get access to Android 3.x Honeycomb and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is likely not coming to this tablet through an official update. If you don’t care about having the latest version of Android the $229.99 eLocity A7+ is a tablet you should have on your watch-list.
However there are other tablets that are priced in the same neighborhood as eLocity A7+ that you should look into as well. There is the 7″ Amazon Kindle Fire that offers a dual-core processor, 4GB of built-in storage and a high-quality IPS LCD for $199. Barnes & Noble just unveiled the 7″ Nook Tablet and it will have a high-quality IPS LCD, 16GB of storage, and a dual-core processor for $249. Also Lenovo has the 7″ Lenovo IdeaPad A1 Android 2.3 tablet that offers single-core processing, 16GB of storage, and multiple color options for $199 and up.
