Free BlackBerry PlayBook tablets offered to BlackBerry Enterprise Server customers

BlackBerry PlayBook free for BlackBerry Enterprise Server customersApparently the Buy two get one free deal offered to enterprise and business clients for the 7-inch BlackBerry PlayBook tablet wasn’t enough. Research In Motion has started giving away free BlackBerry PlayBook tablets to people who purchased BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) software (5th version). RIM on a new webpage is asking all buyers of BES v5 to fill out an application to have their free 16GB Wi-Fi BlackBerry PlayBook tablet sent to them through the mail.

This new promotional offer comes after RIM unveiled new aggressive price cuts ($300 off MSRP across the range) for the holiday season that impact the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. Currently all consumers can purchase the PlayBook for as little as $199 direct from RIM’s online BlackBerry store through 12/3/2011.

I don’t expect these price cuts to disappear after 12/3/2011 like RIM claims now. If RIM wants to get rid of as many PlayBook’s that they have in their warehouse they’ll need to keep the current discount prices live for the rest of the year and possibly into 2012 as well.

The BlackBerry PlayBook features a 7-inch 1024×600 resolution capacitive multi-touch LCD (glossy type),  a 1 GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4 series processing chip, 1GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB built-in storage, Full HD 1080p H.264 video playback and output over HDMI output to a Full HD HDTV or display, storage encryption, BlackBerry Bridge support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi n support, Adobe Flash Player and HTML5 support, QNX-based BlackBerry Tablet OS which supports multi-tasking and more, a 3MP front-facing camera and a 5MP rear camera  that support 1080p HD video recording are also included with this tablet.
