Acer Group Inc. has revealed the 10.1-inch Acer Iconia Tab A200 tablet today, an upcoming Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet the company has launched. According to Acer’s official press release the new A200 that was teased in a leaked TV commercial the other day is going to feature the 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor. Just like folks at Lenovo the people at Acer are acting bearish at the moment in regard to the new quad-core silicon that Nvidia has ready for tablets named Nvidia Tegra 3.

As for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich support the folks at Acer are planning to start shipping the Iconia Tab A200 tablets with the new operating system from Google in January of 2012, all initial shipments before the first month of 2012 will feature Android 3.2 the most up-to-date version of Google’s Honeycomb software. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is going to bridge the gap between Google’s mobile phone Android 2.x OS’ and their Android 3.x tablet OS’ and add a bunch of new features and UI enhancements along the way. Acer promising Android 4.0 is very important.

Acer has another 10.1-inch Android 3.x Honeycomb based tablet by the name of Acer Iconia Tab A500 and in many ways the months old A500 is just like the new A200 tablet. Technical specifications for the Iconia Tab A500 and A200 are just about the same, the only real difference is in the cameras and I/O ports. The new A200 features a 2MP front-facing camera and I/O ports included are a USB 2.0, microSD, and 3.5mm audio jack –the old A500 featured dual cameras, mini-HDMI, mini USB 2.0 and full sized USB 2.0.

The new Acer Iconia Tab A200 features an altered design in comparison to the Acer Iconia Tab A500. The older A500 is physically larger and it weights more, if the dimensions and weight figures presented by Acer in the official specifications sheet for the A200 are to be believed.
