HP TouchPad tablets for $99 and $149 coming back soon for only refurbished models

Many have been clamoring for the discontinued HP TouchPad for months after the tablet had it’s $499 (16GB Wi-Fi) and $599 (32GB Wi-Fi) prices dropped to $99 (16GB Wi-Fi) and $149 (32GB Wi-Fi) in August. HP and many retail partners sold the discontinued HP TouchPad at those rock-bottom prices until all available stock (or at least what retailers were willing to sell) was gone.
Months followed and HP promised that the TouchPad would be back again, but that turned out to be true only for HP employees who were permitted to purchase the tablet for $99 and $149 on the employee only online HP store. To satisfy regular consumer demand HP and some U.S. retailer teamed up to offer HP TouchPads at discounted prices with the purchase of an HP computer, this offer wasn’t the same thing as getting the $99 or $149 TouchPad out right it was more expensive.
In absence of HP or any official retailers still offering discounted HP TouchPads consumers were left with third-party options on websites like Craigslist and eBay where the TouchPad was available at inflated prices.
However in a surprising turn of events HP has announced they will be offering $99 and $149 HP TouchPad tablets through their eBay store in a few days. The discounted tablets will be available for live order on December 11, 2011 at 6 PM Central Time through this eBay store. According to reports from other blogs the TouchPad’s that are coming to eBay are refurbished, HP is only going to sell two units per customer, and all tablets sold will come with a 90 day warranty for buyer protection. As far as accessories go (HP did make a few for the TouchPad exclusively) the HP eBay store will also offer an accessory bundle deal that includes a folio case, TouchStone charging dock and HP wireless keyboard for only $79 (savings out the wazoo).
The eBay deal will likely last only a few hours before supplies are drained thoroughly, so make sure you’re ready at exactly 6PM Central Time when the deal goes live.
