Delayed: Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime pre-order shipments delayed for Amazon and Best Buy

Some Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime customers that placed pre-orders through retailers Amazon and Best Buy awoke to some troubling e-mails today. Reports from Engadget cite multiple tips from pre-order customers at both Amazon and Best Buy in saying that some orders are being either canceled or having shipment delayed.
At Amazon some pre-orders are being cancelled and customers are being given the option to pre-order again today and get a free $10 gift card for Amazon.com as a token of apology. For Best Buy customers pre-order shipments are being pushed back from this week to either next week or the week after that for some Transformer Prime pre-order customers.
All of these developments are affecting U.S. customers for Amazon and Best Buy only, as Transformer Prime pre-orders have been limited to only a few regions of the world thus far.
Asus announced pre-orders were available for their Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime tablet back in November, at the time Asus said that customers in the U.S. or Canada could place pre-orders and the Transformer Prime would be shipping on December 7th for the first time.
The recent delays assure that for some the Transformer Prime tablet won’t be arriving in time for Christmas morning, which is a real disappointment.
Again the price for the quad-core Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime for U.S. customers is $499.99 for a 32GB Wi-Fi only model and $599.99 for a 64GB Wi-Fi only model –each price is for the standalone tablet, the Transformer Prime keyboard dock is an extra $149.99 and it’s also available for order at this time at select retailers.
