RIM BlackBerry PlayBook black backgroundDid you never think you would see the day where the price of a 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB tablet were exactly the same? Well if so Research In Motion (RIM) has proved you wrong with their latest attempt to boost sales of their BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. RIM has dropped prices for all three variations of their Wi-Fi tablet to just $299.

For the U.S. only the 7-inch BlackBerry PlayBook is available now direct from RIM’s own online store for the U.S. at just $299 no matter the ┬ámodel. You can order, and have it shipped free, the 16GB/32GB/64GB BlackBerry PlayBook for hundreds less than the starting MSRP prices from back in 2011. The $299 PlayBook sale is only being offered for a limited time so you do have to act fast if you want to get your PlayBook tablet.

BlackBerry PlayBook 299 saleFor RIM’s own home country, Canada, the sale prices are still $199CAD for a 16GB, $299CAD for a 32GB, and $399CAD for a 64GB direct from RIM’s online store for Canadians.

I wonder if the new pricing will give RIM a radical boost in sales like price reductions in India accomplished recently. I’m leaning towards the pricing not having it’s desired effect, because for India the full supply of PlayBook tablets was drained in only a matter of days, and the $299 sale in the U.S. isn’t the first sale that RIM has had. Previously PlayBook prices were $199 for a 16GB, $299 for a 32GB, and $399 for a 64GB in the U.S. and those prices didn’t do significant enough damage to any retailers stock of PlayBook tablets, or at least none was reported.

However no matter how this goes for RIM the discounted BlackBerry PlayBook is a win for consumers looking to get into th world of tablets without spending much more than $299.
