After announcing and launching the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime in 2011 what more could Asus have in store for tablet buyers so early in 2012? Well of course it’s a higher-end version of the 10.1″ Eee Pad Transformer Prime tablet. The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF700T is on display at CES 2012 right now in Las Vegas, Nevada and the new Asus tablet packs many of the same technical specifications as the 2011 Transformer Prime, but there are some pretty big differences between tablets.

The first difference is that the 2012 Transformer Prime features a Full HD WUXGA (1920×1200) resolution 10.1-inch IPS display, meanwhile the 2011 Transformer Prime dons a 10.1″ HD WXGA (1280×800) resolution IPS display. The next difference is the 2012 Prime starts at $599 for a 32GB model and goes up to $699 if you want the only other size option of 64GB. And the final difference is the general designs of the two tablets the 2012 Prime isn’t as flashy as the 2011 Prime tablet which is currently available in a shiny Purple or shiny Gold color.

According to Asus the new 2012 Prime tablet is targeted as users looking for a tablet that offers the ultimate experience in both Entertainment, Media, Gaming and Productivity tasks. With the Full HD display the 2012 Transformer Prime definitely has the screen real estate that tablets before it haven’t offered, and with the quad-core 1.3 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 powering the tablet it’s not lacking in the processing department when compared to the current market competitors.

In their press announcement for the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime TF700T the Taiwanese tablet maker describes the new  high-end 10.1″ tablet with the following main features:

  • Processor- NVIDIA Tegra 3 Mobile Processor (1.3 GHz Quad core Cortex A9, 12 core GeForce GPU)
