The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 Google Android 3.0 Honecyomb tablets getting launched in the US on May 24th? It’s a serious possibility. Samsung Mobile division has started sending out invites for a special event in New York for that exact date, two Tuesdays from now, Slash Gear has been able to get a copy of an invite card (see bottom).
Both the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 were introduced for the US at the March Samsung Mobile event that was held in Orlando, Florida around CTIA Wireless 2011. The new tablets boosted industry leading thinness in design and the Goole Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system for tablets.
During their initial unveiling Samsung stated they would launch both models in the US in June. The new Tab’s could come early but Samsung Mobile could be holding the event to introduce a new Android Smartphone. However whether the 8.9 and 10.1 tablets are launched this month or next the tablets will be competitively priced. The 8.9 will go for $469 (16GB) and $569 (32GB) while the 10.1 will sell for $499 (16GB) and $599 (32GB).
