Android 3.1 Honeycomb Update In June For ASUS Transformer and Acer A500 Tablets

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and Acer Iconia Tab A500Google’s first official follow-up to the Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system for tablets was unveiled last week at Google I/O 2011, Android 3.1 Honeycomb.

Today reports are out that ASUS and Acer will be sending out the Android 3.1 update to their Android 3.0 tablets early next month. That means the 10.1-inch ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and the 10.1-inch Acer ICONIA Tab A500.

The ASUS tablet will get its Android 3.1 update using the usual OTA method, according to a Facebook fan page update made by ASUS Italia. The other Android 3.1 candidate the Motorola XOOM is getting the update in the same fashion for its 3G and Wi-Fi only versions. Acer is likely to follow ASUS and Motorola and offer the Android 3.1 update OTA.
