Motorola is expected to be readying to launch two tablets on us, one tablet will be the 10-inch Motorola XOOM 2 and the other the 8.2-inch Motorola XOOM 2 Media Edition. The two tablets are expected to arrive before the end of this year, Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha promised two new tablets with 4G LTE before the year was out.
Droid-Life has uncovered inventory entries for two Motorola product model numbers that have been associated with the Motorola XOOM 2 and XOOM 2 Media Edition tablets in the past. The new inventory listing lists the Motorola MZ609 and Motorola MZ617, it’s assumed that the MZ609 is the 8.2-inch XOOM 2 Media Edition and the MZ617 is the 10-inch XOOM 2. According to the inventory listings the MZ609 is going to be offered in 16GB and 32GB capacities with 4G in each model and as for the MZ617 it’s listed with a 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacity options with 4G for each of those sizes.
Motorola’s first generation XOOM tablet is available currently with 32GB of storage and 4G LTE model from carrier Verizon Wireless. The other Motorola tablet that’s available at the moment is the $399 Motorola XOOM Family Edition tablet that’s supplied with only 16GB of built-in storage and Wi-Fi for Internet connectivity.
If the inventory listing leaks prove true then Motorola Mobility Inc. has finally woken up and decided to provide their tablet customers with more than just one capacity to buy. I hope Motorola will also be able to launch their next XOOM tablets with a Wi-Fi only option from day-one (the first XOOM didn’t have a Wi-Fi only option available at launch it came a month or so later) and with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options for the Wi-Fi models too.
