Archos reveals their low-cost Android tablet for children

Archos Child PadArchos Child PadArchos has revealed their latest Android tablet, the Archos Child Pad. The new tablet features a 7-inch touchscreen LCD and a predominantly White body color. Archos plans on selling the Child Pad at the end of this month, March 2012, for $129USD. At that very low price Archos includes the aforementioned 7-inch touchscreen as well as a 1GHz application processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 1GB of RAM, and access to a Kid App Store that is supplied with more than 10,000 kid-friendly Android applications and games.

Unlike other kid-friendly tablets Archos is billing their Child Pad as more of an entertainment tablet designed to offer hours of child appropriate fun for very little money. Most other tablets advertised towards kids have put some focus on education and teaching as well as entertaining kids. However there are applications that teach kids about basic math and spelling in the Android application store.

If you’re looking for some details about the tablets display resolution, built-in storage and storage expandability options (if they exist), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support status, and anything else along those lines I got nothing for you. Archos only announced the Child Pad today, no full details or product page have been published as yet. However for general specs. I wouldn’t expect much, the Child Pad is a $129 tablet after all. I expect the 7-inch screen is 800×480 pixels, there is 4GB of built-in storage, and Wi-Fi b/g is all you get with the low-cost Child Pad.
