A 9.7-inch tablet, many thought it was an awkward bet for Apple in 2010 to release their first tablet with that particular screen size. Now in 2012 Apple has proved that consumers don’t mind a 9.7-inch tablet, actually their are millions willing to drop $500+ USD on such a tablet.
Italian tablet maker Prestigio has revealed a new 9.7-inch tablet that offers the same, according to them, 9.7-inch 1024×768 IPS screen you see on the Apple iPad 2. If you’ve seen the display on the iPad 2 then you know it’s top-quality for color reproduction, brightness, and those all important viewing angles. The new tablet is named Prestigio Multi 9.7 and it’s going to cost Italian tablet buyers just 199 Euro when it’s released this May in the region.
Prestigio mainly sells their tablets in Italy, but through third-party retailers you should be able to get the tablet if you live in another part of Europe. U.S. sales of the Prestigio Multi 9.7 aren’t planned at this time, although if the affordable Multi 9.7 does well in Italy Prestigio might have to start looking into North American availability.
All the features coming with the €199 Prestigio Multi 9.7 tablet:
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS
- 9.7-inch IPS LCD, 1024×768, touchscreen
- 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, single core CPU
- 1GB of RAM
- 8GB of flash memory storage built-in, microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB
- USB 2.0 and HDMI ports
- Front facing camera only
- Wi-Fi only
- 6000mAh rechargeable battery
- Leather portfolio case
If you’re all about screen quality and you go deal with a bit of hiccups in performance (games , web browsing etc.) then the Multi 9.7 won’t be a bad purchase. For 199 Euro you’re going to be hard pressed to find another 9.7-inch tablet with an IPS screen.
